Carmen Hui - Australian Still Life Artist - Australian Botanical Art
Play

Based in the vibrant inner west of Sydney, Carmen is a self-taught artist whose passion for coloured pencils shines through her work. Her fascination with the emotional connection between people and everyday objects has been a lifelong exploration, fuelled by her love for drawing that began in childhood. Despite taking a different career path as a graphic designer, Carmen rediscovered her passion for art and has been working as an artist since 2015.

Carmen's chosen medium of coloured pencils is the perfect fit for her artistic style, as she revels in the slow and meditative process of building up a drawing. It also brings a nostalgic sense of comfort to her creative process, allowing her to tap into memories and emotions that inspire her artwork.

Carmen's work has been featured in several publications, including Frankie, Peppermint, Country Style, Inside Out, Buzzfeed, Neighbourhood Magazine, and Inner West Courier. She has collaborated with commercial brands such as Derwent, Twinings, and Wacom, as well as smaller projects such as children's books, kids' streetwear, and jewellery design.
