Native to Malaysia, the torch ginger is grown throughout tropical south-east Asia for the spectacular flower as well as for food. With an exotic, sweet and floral flavour, the stems of the flowers are chopped up and added to curries or soups with rice noodles. This drawing is from the 100 Days of Flowers projected completed in 2015.
